"Yo," comes the rough, static laced voice from the other end of the speaker.

"I need that call sign."

"Gimme a second."

Up ahead I can see dark space pock marked by specks of gray and blue, a scattering of shapes, almost blending in with the surrounding stars, only in a duller, more gunmetal sheen. They draw larger second by second as we approach. The rounded forms start to shift into more visible, recognizable shapes as we get closer.

Ships. Bragdon ships. What looks like hundreds of them.

Above the viewscreen, a yellow light flashes a steady, throbbing pattern.
